Reassurance is the removal of fears and concerns about illness. In medicine, reassurance can refer to the behavior of a caregiver, or to the response of a patient. Reassurance is said to have been successful if a patient responds to a clinical consultation with less fear and concern about their illness.
Despite being a core aspect of medical care, and the cornerstone of management for a number of non-specific conditions, reassurance is a clinical skill that remains poorly understood.
Companion care is a form of home care offering non-medical services to older adults or people with disabilities. Companion care differs from personal care in that personal care aides (also known as home health aides) may provide the same services as companion care but also help with tasks such as bathing, dressing, and medication management, depending on specific state regulations. The goal of companion care is primarily emotional support and socialization.
Respite care is short-term relief for in-home hospice caregivers.
Hospice respite care enables the caregiver to rest and recover from the demands of daily in-home care. Respite care is also appropriate when a patient’s medical condition warrants a short-term inpatient stay for pain or other symptoms that cannot be managed at home.
Homemaker services provide assistance to persons with the inability to perform one or more of the following activities of daily living: preparing meals, shopping for personal items, managing
money, using the telephone or doing light housework.
Household support services/Chore services—e.g., house cleaning, minor repairs, yard work, laundry, trash removal. Which helps a person stay at home and remain as independent as possible
